Roger Cook has been the landscape contractor of the Emmy-award-winning show This Old House for 35 years. He is hailed as one of the pillars of the home improvement series.

This is why fans were shocked and saddened when Roger Cook announced in January 2020 that he would be leaving. Roger’s retirement was caused by health-related issues.

Fan Noticed Roger Cook Limping

Roger Cook’s job required a lot of movement. In 2018, avid viewers of the show noticed that he had developed a slight limp in some of the episodes.

It was very noticeable that he had trouble walking around. Roger was not keen on talking about his health from the get-go. This led his fans to speculate that Cook was suffering from a neurological condition called Parkinson’s Disease.

Roger Cook was absent for most of the 40th season of This Old House. There had been a lot of speculation that his health had taken a turn for the worse.

In June 2018, Roger finally addressed released the issue, revealing that he suffered from a few medical conditions. However, he did not reveal the specific diseases that he was battling. During the subsequent seasons, Roger would miss even more episodes.

Finally, in 2020 he declared that he would be leaving the show after 35 years. Roger proclaimed that the state of his health prevented him from working on the series. As such, he chose to pass the torch to JennNawada.

Health Update 2021

As of 2021, Roger Cook is still struggling with his health. It seems that he is still battling multiple diseases that have riddled his body since 2018. The good news is that he is still in high spirits and prefers to focus on his family instead.

Roger Cook Death Rumor Because Of His Illness

In 2020, Roger Cook announced that he would be retiring from the show. After that announcement, he stayed out of the limelight.

He has also kept his life more private. Roger prefers to live a quiet life and focus on his health. His disappearance from the spotlight sparked rumors that he had already died. #

There were also speculations that he had a heart attack. All these were just baseless speculation because Roger Cook is still very much alive.

Wife And Kids

Roger is married to Kathleen, who he met as a student at the University of Maine. They tied the knot sometime in the 1980s.

The couple had two kids named Molly and Jason. Sadly, Kathleen was diagnosed with cancer when she was in her 50s. She went through all the medical treatments available and battled the disease for several years.

However, Kathleen lost her battle in December 2010. Roger’s wife died surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 56.
