Erin Napier asks Fans to Pray for her Mother Karen Rasberry. What happened?

Erin Napier is a well-known television personality, designer, and entrepreneur, best recognized as the co-host of HGTV’s hit series Home Town. Alongside her husband, Ben Napier, she renovates and restores historic homes in their small town of Laurel, Mississippi, bringing new life to old spaces with her signature design style.

Born on August 30, 1985, Erin studied graphic design at the University of Mississippi, where she met Ben. The couple’s passion for preservation and storytelling caught the attention of HGTV, leading to the launch of Home Town in 2016.

Beyond television, Erin is a best-selling author, a mother of two daughters, and a business owner with ventures like Laurel Mercantile Co. and Scotsman Co. She is admired for her creative vision, heartfelt storytelling, and dedication to family and community.

The Home Town star, 39, took to her Instagram Stories on Monday, asking fans to keep her mom in their prayers. “My mama wrote this,” Erin captioned a screenshot of Rasberry’s Facebook post. “Y’all say a prayer for her?”

In her post, Rasberry shared a heartfelt message alongside a serene ocean view, writing, “This is the place and view that always touches my soul and makes my heart feel light. It’s especially important today.” She went on to highlight a common health concern, asking, “Have you ever thought about being a woman and having coronary artery disease? Probably not.”

Rasberry revealed that she recently underwent a cardiac catheterization, a procedure used to check for arterial blockages, and was diagnosed with two blockages in the left anterior descending artery. As a result, she will need two stents to restore proper blood flow.

“It wasn’t the widow-maker, but it was dangerously close,” Rasberry explained, referencing the severe type of heart attack known as a “widowmaker,” which occurs when the left anterior descending (LAD) artery is completely blocked.

She admitted that she had been seriously ill but overlooked the subtle symptoms that women often experience. “My condition is largely due to unfortunate genetics—and probably a little too much Ranch dressing, Rotel dip, and fried fish,” she joked.

Rasberry asked for prayers as she prepares for a challenging recovery. “It’s going to be a long few months of healing and adjusting to medications that feel unfamiliar to me,” she shared.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, coronary artery disease develops when plaque builds up in the arteries supplying blood to the heart. These blockages can weaken the heart muscle and increase the risk of heart failure.

Napier’s update on her mother’s health comes just weeks after she shared news about another family challenge—her daughter Helen’s playground injury.

What started as a fun day at the park took a turn when Helen misstepped at the bottom of a slide, resulting in a complete break of both her tibia and fibula. In a January Instagram post, Erin detailed the ordeal, posting photos of Helen’s pink cast and her husband, Ben Napier, sleeping next to their daughter’s crib to watch over her. “So thankful to have @scotsman.co beside me (and taking turns sleeping on the floor by her crib) when parenting during a pandemic becomes even more stressful,” she wrote.

Doctors later determined that Helen’s leg needed to be “rebroken” to properly heal.

“It took a procedure under general anesthesia (😰), a rebreak, and resetting her leg bones with a full-leg cast once we returned home to Mississippi,” Erin shared in a follow-up post. “But today, my baby girl finally felt great.”

Helen was overwhelmed by the support she received from well-wishers around the world. Erin added, “She wanted me to tell y’all: ‘Thank you for checking on me!’”
