Bargain Block New Season Update: Teasers, Locations and 5 things you should know.
Keith Bynum, who has been transforming homes alongside partner Evan Thomas on Bargain Block since 2021, recently opened up to TV Insider about what fans can expect next. After launching a New Orleans spinoff in 2024, the duo isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
“We just wrapped up — well, we’re still finishing one of the houses — but new episodes are coming this fall from Detroit,” Bynum shared while discussing his collaboration with American Standard for their 150th anniversary. “We got through all the New Orleans houses and listed them. The last one was actually supposed to go live today, but the power meter didn’t get installed, so now we’re delayed by a few days.”
Despite the hiccup, the team has been busy back in Detroit. “We just finished another five houses — well, we’re actively finishing the fifth,” Bynum added. “So, we’re back in Detroit, trying to stay grounded and keep everything moving. It’s a bit of a balancing act, but honestly, it’s a blast.”
He also shared his thoughts on the possibility of taking the show to more cities following the New Orleans season. “We are actively working in a lot of cities,” Bynum hinted. “I will say, we’re spending a lot of time in Nashville. We’re also in Chicago quite a bit lately. There might be a reason for that.”
Keep reading for more from Bynum, including if he’d return to a competition show, why he partnered with American Standard for their $150,000 down payment giveaway, and other updates.
How would you say your design style has evolved over time?
Keith Bynum: That’s a fun question. Being on TV gives you a chance to watch yourself work — maybe a little more than you’d like — so it’s easy to become overly critical. Evan and I have learned to accept that growth takes time. It’s been really rewarding to see how much our work has evolved.
That’s also why partnerships like the one with American Standard make sense. They recognize how hard we work and how much thought we put into creating something meaningful for homeowners. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
How long does it usually take to film a season of Bargain Block?
Last year, it took about 42 weeks. You blink and suddenly realize the entire year has flown by. It’s definitely a demanding schedule, but overall, we really enjoy the process.
You’ve competed on Rock the Block—would you consider doing another competition show?
I’ll be honest, I think my ego has had its fill of competitions for a while. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. You don’t really grasp how intense it is until you’re in the middle of it. For now, I’m taking a step back from that kind of energy. Never say never, but it’s a lot. I’m extremely competitive—probably too much—and Evan is just as bad. It’s kind of our thing. But we did learn a ton from the experience, no doubt about that.
What do you and Evan enjoy doing during downtime from filming?
For us, the most refreshing thing is reconnecting with nature — just getting back to plants, dirt, and trees. Even if it’s just a short hike, we try to find time wherever we are to step outside and reset. We really miss Colorado for that reason; it was so easy to escape into the mountains.
Michigan’s great too — you can get to the water in just a few minutes. Those little moments in nature help us stay grounded amidst the chaos. And our place on Beaver Island has been a huge source of peace. It’s incredibly calming and has made a big difference for us.
Tell me a little bit about your partnership with American Standard and why it was a collaboration you were passionate about.
We’ve been working with American Standard for a really long time, so teaming up with them for their 150th anniversary feels pretty special. It’s one of those partnerships that just makes sense — our values and approach really line up.
We use a lot of their products because they’re not only creative, but also practical and built to last. Whether we need something affordable or high-end, they’ve got it covered. That range and quality make them a perfect fit for what we do. We’re just genuinely excited to be part of celebrating such a big milestone with a brand we truly believe in.
Tell us about the down payment giveaway and what drew you to it.
This kind of initiative fits perfectly with what we believe in — that good design should be accessible to everyone. First-time homebuyers hold a special place in my heart, so being part of something that helps them take that big step means a lot. And $150,000 is a huge amount — it can truly change someone’s life.
I feel lucky just to be involved, even though I didn’t put up the money myself. It’s just incredible to help make homeownership a reality for someone.
To support that dream, American Standard is giving away $150,000 to one lucky first-time homebuyer. For more details and a chance to enter, visit www.AmericanStandard-us.com/story.
