Good Bones Mina Hawk Brutally Slammed, her husband Steve came to Rescue.
Veteran HGTV star Mina Starsiak Hawk has grown accustomed to facing online criticism after eight seasons on Good Bones, but she never shies away from standing up for herself.
However, on February 28, 2025, her husband, fitness trainer Steve Hawk, stepped in to defend her after a social media user criticized a photo of the couple in their swimsuits. Calling it the “worst comment” he had ever seen, Steve didn’t hesitate to jump into the fray to support his wife.
Mina Starsiak Hawk’s Husband Says She’s Worked Hard to Be Physically Fit
During their getaway to Cancun, Mexico, Mina Starsiak Hawk shared a photo on social media, posing in a bikini, sunglasses, and a ball cap while standing by the ocean with her husband. Many fans flooded the comments with support, including one who wrote, “Sweetest couple ever ❤️ enjoy a refresh.”
However, one comment didn’t sit well with the couple. A user wrote, “You had a boob job and tummy tuck—why are you posting body pics that might make people who don’t have that luxury feel bad about themselves? 🤷♀️ You know better, girlfriend!”
In December 2020, Mina Starsiak Hawk underwent a “mommy makeover” after having two children. The procedure included a tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast implants. Speaking with Us Weekly, she shared that her decision was about empowerment, encouraging women to do “whatever makes you feel strong, powerful, and beautiful.”
On March 1, Starsiak Hawk responded to the commenter who criticized her bikini photo, making it clear why she shared the image. “Because it’s my job to feel good about MYself, not to make sure a stranger I’ve never met feels good about themselves,” she wrote.
She went on to challenge the critic’s perspective, adding,
“Sounds like part of your struggle might be that you’re too worried about comparing yourself to others. And just an aside—my boob job and tummy tuck didn’t give me biceps and quads. Busting my ass in the gym did. But it’s probably easier for you to reduce my positive health and body image to a surgery, because that makes it easier to justify why you ‘can’t’ achieve the same. But I don’t know you, so who knows. 🤷🏼♀️ This was a lively chat, Janet.”
Her husband, Steve Hawk, who runs HawkFit in Indianapolis, didn’t hold back in his response. Jumping into the conversation, he wrote, “This is the worst comment I’ve ever seen in my life. So what do you suggest my wife do—hide in a closet? Eating right and exercising have maintained her appearance. You still have to put the work in. I can’t believe I even took the time to respond to such a terrible comment.”
Fans Rush to Add Their Support for Mina Starsiak Hawk
On March 1, Mina Starsiak Hawk took to her Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of her exchange with the critic who had taken issue with her beach photo. Adding her own commentary over the image, she wrote, “Apparently, I’m never allowed to show my body to anyone but my husband ever again. WHY are women so wild?!??”
Doubling down, she followed up with another Story featuring a different bikini photo of herself lounging by the beach. She also highlighted a response she had received to her previous post that read, “Typical Karen running the pie hole.”Underneath, she cheekily wrote, “Upsetting Karens since 2020.”
Fans quickly rallied behind Starsiak Hawk in the comments of her original post. One supporter praised her response, writing,
“Very respectful reply to a post that didn’t deserve that level of courtesy (I wish I had that kind of restraint). Your journey is your journey—maybe instead of trying to tear you down, critics should find inspiration and motivation in what you and @srhawk2003 are achieving and try doing it for themselves.”
Another fan chimed in with encouragement, adding, “No one can make you feel a way you don’t want to feel. Mina’s pictures of her hot body have motivated me to lose weight and work out. Maybe you can feel motivated too! It’s a better choice.”
